When disaster hits, targeted and agile responses can drastically change impact on the ground, often saving lives that would be lost to lack of materials or a delay in action.

In catastrophic instances of war or natural disaster, infrastructures and supply chains are often severely impacted. By connecting with existing local organizations, we can understand the complex, shifting needs on the ground to mobilize global aid to where it is most needed, as soon as it is needed.

We’ve mobilized emergency relief after explosions in Sierra Leone and Lebanon, fires in Greece, and most recently, the war in Ukraine and Syria.

Emergency Response

“Aid Pioneers was able to deliver nearly every piece of needed medical supplies within two weeks, all at no cost to City Council… The timing and scale of these deliveries allowed our hospitals to meet critical needs for all 156 victims.”

— Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr OBE
Mayor of Freetown, Sierra Leone

Our Emergency Approach

As in all other Aid Pioneers projects, we rely on our bottom-up approach in our Emergency Relief Aid projects. In emergency instances where we need to move extremely quickly and accurately, we only work in countries where we have existing partners. This allows us to leverage our networks, connections, and understandings so in the critical time post-disaster, we’re able to work with pinpoint accuracy.

Scaling in this context often means building up supply streams. To do this, we collect donations, organize supplies such as medical equipment or food, plan and manage logistics routes and provide support in impact reporting. Our scaling aims at targeted solutions embedded in global networks, which Aid Pioneers facilitates.
