Tuyoor Al Amal: A one-of-a-kind school
Tuyoor Al Amal Schools were founded in 2013 by Mustafa Al-Haj. Having himself fled from Syria, he recognised the dire need of the community in Tripoli (Lebanon) to gain access to quality education. Having started with about 350 children, the school now teaches over 2400 children in two different locations and starts to expand its curriculum beyond the Lebanese standard curriculum to integrate life-skills into its teaching.
The school is one of its kind as it offers an officially recognized degree to its mostly Syrian graduates.

Our Projects
Solar Panels
After our partners, Altenburg Foundation, have installed a first set of solar panels in the Tuyoor Al Amal Schools, we are looking to install a further set of solar panels in the second school’s location. For the school, solar installations have the following impact: energy costs can be significantly reduced as the energy supply is so unreliable that fuel-generators are used for electricity. As the costs for the generators leave a dent in the school’s budget, the school can only afford around four hours of electricity per day. However, especially for computer-based teaching, reliable electricity supply is a must.

Key Facts
Teacher Training for Employability
The aim of teaching digital skills is for the children to build the skills needed on the international labor market. However, what is often forgotten is that so-called soft-skills are crucial to entering this world. Key skills, such as email etiquette, adequate English and other communication skills are those often forgotten when focusing on digital skills for employability. We are looking to start a teacher training programme to built the internal capacities of Tuyoor Al Amal to deliver these employability classes.
