Why does Syria need our support?
The overthrow of the Assad regime in late 2024 has ushered in a period of significant change for Syria. Yet, the humanitarian crisis remains dire. An estimated 16.5 million people—7 out of 10 Syrians—are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance, making this one of the most severe crises in the world today. More than 13 years since the start of the conflict, half of Syria’s population remains displaced, both within and beyond its borders.
Syrians continue to grapple with the devastating consequences of prolonged conflict, mass displacement, climate shocks, ongoing violence, and a deteriorating infrastructure. The February 2023 earthquake only deepened the suffering, further straining an already fragile humanitarian response. Now, the collapse of the government in Damascus and renewed conflict have heightened the risks, making it even more challenging to meet people’s basic needs.
-
Over 13 million Syrians have been displaced, with vulnerable groups like women, children, and people with disabilities facing unsafe living conditions, exploitation, and limited access to aid.
-
Targeted attacks on hospitals and staff, along with supply shortages, have left millions without access to basic medical care, vaccines, or mental health support.
-
Civilians continue to face violence, trauma, and displacement due to active conflict zones, with little protection or stability, especially in opposition-held areas.
-
With over 90% of the population living in poverty, families struggle to afford food, medicine, and education, leading to rising hunger, child labor, and early marriage.

How we are making an impact
At Aid Pioneers, we believe that meaningful, lasting impact starts with the right local partnerships. In Syria, we collaborate with highly effective organizations such as SAMS and HIHFAD, trusted partners with the capacity to reach over 40 healthcare facilities across Northwest Syria.
As violence, displacement, poverty, and the recent earthquake continue to afflict Syria, we are taking action by:
Delivering critical medical aid efficiently by working with trusted global logistics providers, and sourcing high-quality medical supplies through our partner Project C.U.R.E.
Investing in sustainable infrastructure, beginning with the solarization of two clinics in Northwest Syria.
Providing vital assistance to the 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Lebanon who are largely without support from the Lebanese government. They primarily rely on healthcare services and educational programs operated by local NGOs.
These efforts are designed to relieve financial pressure in both the short and long term. Medical shipments bring immediate cost savings for hospitals and clinics, enabling them to lower or stabilize patient fees. Meanwhile, solar installations create a path to energy independence - cutting diesel reliance, reducing emissions, and generating significant annual savings that institutions can reinvest into care or education.
We know that rebuilding Syria will take time. But by helping meet basic needs, like healthcare and reliable power, we hope to play a small part in laying the foundation for long-term wellbeing and recovery as the country goes through a major shift.

Critical Earthquake Response
HIGHLIGHT
Aid Pioneers responded swiftly to the devastating February 2023 earthquake in Syria and Türkiye, focusing on delivering critical medical supplies to Northwest Syria, where access is limited due to political and logistical challenges.
Collaborating with local partner Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HIHFAD), the organization identified a significant gap in medical consumables, with major international organizations covering only 20% of general medical needs and none for consumables in the region.
In partnership with Project C.U.R.E., Aid Pioneers facilitated the shipment of $262,633 worth of essential medical supplies, including anesthesia supplies, syringes, IV equipment, surgical instruments, and oxygen concentrators, to 49 hospitals across Northwest Syria.
This initiative was made possible through the generous support of donors like the Tim Henman Foundation, whose grant enabled the delivery of these critical supplies to areas most affected by the earthquake.

Our Partners
Hand in Hand for Aid and Development (HIHFAD) provides essential on-the-ground support to civilians. The organization envisions a world where barriers are dismantled, and communities are empowered and self-reliant. HIHFAD remains resolute in its commitment to not leave anyone behind, even in the most challenging and remote areas.
Since 2011, the Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) has provided life-saving medical care to Syrians affected by conflict. Operating in Syria and neighboring countries, SAMS offers health services, emergency response, and mental health support.
The Independent Doctors Association (IDA) is a non-governmental organization that operates independently, providing medical and humanitarian aid to individuals affected by conflicts, natural disasters, and epidemics. IDA also actively advocates for the safeguarding of civilians, hospitals, and healthcare workers, as well as unhindered humanitarian access.

What can you do to help?
Aid Pioneers’ on-the-ground partners give Lebanon’s most vulnerable communities access to healthcare and education. As diesel prices continue to rise, our Lebanese partners are forced to either raise fees or curtail operations, with some facing the looming threat of complete closure.
With your support, Aid Pioneers can intervene through medical shipments creating immediate cost savings and solar installations granting long-term energy independence.
